Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an excellent “potential” opportunity for a civilian (Part-Time) Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner supporting the Medical Treatment Facility at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana.  


Job Description: 

This contract position offers:

  • Part time employee position
  • Clinic Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm
  • No night, weekend, holiday or on-call responsibilities
  • Full Complement of Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K)
  • Paid Time Off 
  • Providing full range of Nurse Practitioner services as granted by Commanding Officer  

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited BSN program acceptable to USAF Surgeon General
  • Hold a Doctoral degree from an approved Family Health Nurse Practitioner program or Advance Certification acceptable to USAF SG. Master’s degree will be reviewed on case by case.
  • Nationally certified by the ANCC
  • At least 2 years within the past 36 months of clinical experience
  • Active state license current and unrestricted
  • Current BLS and ACLS Certification required. PALS desired.

In addition to the education, certification and experience listed in the basic contract and the position description, Barksdale AFB requires the Family Nurse Practitioner to perform deployment health assessment services that comply with Department of Defense and Air Force deployment health policy and guidance, to include required standards of care and clinical practice guidelines. Additionally, the Family Nurse Practitioner must a have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and become proficient in the use of the following computer systems: Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS) -Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Aeromedical Services Information Management System (ASIMS), and Preventive Health Assessment and Individual Medical Readiness (PIMR).
