Position Requirements:

• U.S. citizen
• Education: BSN or approved ADN 
• 1 year of labor and delivery RN experience required
• Active RN license
• Active BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform initial and ongoing assessments of laboring mothers, including monitoring vital signs, assessing fetal well-being, and evaluating progress of labor

• Provide physical and emotional support and education to laboring mothers, including coaching through breathing techniques, positioning, and pain management strategies

• Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions using electronic fetal monitoring equipment, recognizing signs of distress and notifying the appropriate healthcare provider

• Assist providers during labor and delivery procedures, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections

• Administer medications as ordered by healthcare providers, including pain relief medications, oxytocin for labor augmentation, and medications to prevent postpartum hemorrhage

• Provide education to expectant mothers and their families regarding the labor and delivery process, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and activities to enhance patient outcomes and promote evidence-based practice in labor and delivery care
