This position provides physical therapy services in support of patient care and treatment.    

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Help physical therapists to provide treatment that improves patient mobility, relieves pain, and prevents or lessons physical disabilities of patients.

 

  • Performs a variety of tasks as well as provides part of a patient’s treatment which may include helping patients exercise, use medical equipment (i.e. Crutches), give massages, traction and ultra sound.

 

  • Records the patient’s response to treatment and reports the outcome of each treatment to the physical therapist.

 

  • Maintains work area.

 

  • Maintains departmental supplies/ inventories.

 

  • Maintains Safety and/or Performance Improvement.

 

  • Data/records for designated department areas to include orthopedic support and patient interaction.

 

  • Assist with other duties as needed and assigned.

Job Qualifications:

 

The job qualifications for this position are as follows:

 

  1. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Associate Degree program.
  2. Certification as a physical therapy assistant as determined by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), or state licensure as a physical therapy assistant.
  3. Possess a minimum of one-year experience as a physical therapy assistant within the preceding 3 years OR have graduated from a Physical Therapy Assistant program within the preceding year.
  4. Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  5. Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
  6. Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.

  • Regular attendance required
  • Standing and bending in assessment & treatment of clients
  • Considerable walking
  • Lifting and carrying medical equipment
  • Moderate stress
  • Position may require long hours during critical deadlines
  • Prolonged telephone use
  • Prolonged work on a PC/Computer
