Join Our Team as a Substance Abuse Counselor!
Company: Mental Health Clinic, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton
Location: Camp Pendleton, CA
Schedule: Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays, for shifts ranging from 8.5 to 10.5 hours between 0600 to 1800 hours. Shifts include a 30-minute or 1-hour uncompensated meal break, depending on shift length. HCWs will not exceed 80 hours per two-week period.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree: Certificate.
- Education: Graduate from a behavioral science program with specialized training in substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment.
- Certification: Maintain national certification credential by NAADAC, NBCC, or IC&RC/AODA.
- Experience: Minimum one year as a Substance Abuse Counselor after graduation.
- License: Current, full, active, and unrestricted Certified Addictions Counselor license.
Core Duties:
- Provide comprehensive Certified Addiction Counselor duties, including medical care treatment and patient education.
- Obtain and provide relevant information to facilitate treatment and program development.
- Conduct assessments of substance abuse and addiction.
- Identify and document medical consequences of substance use, including withdrawal and detoxification.
- Facilitate patient placement and management within the continuum of care model.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years within the preceding 4 years as a Substance Abuse Counselor in a Rehabilitation Program serving male and female clients.
- References: Provide two letters of reference within the preceding two years from a manager, director, or direct supervisor of a Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program, attesting to clinical skills in counseling males and females.
