Position: Surgical Technologist (Dermatology Laser)

Location: San Diego Naval Medical Center, CA

Schedule: Mon – Fri, 0630 – 1800, no weekends and no Federal holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree: Certificate.
• Education: Graduate from a Surgical Technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, or completion of a formal training program provided by the U.S. Armed Forces for surgical technicians, surgical technologists, or operating room technicians.
• Certification: Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by NBSTSA, or as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) by NCCT, or possess a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician and/or operating room technician.
• Experience: One year of experience within the last two years as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician.

Core Duties:

• Perform the full spectrum of sterile techniques, including setting up surgical trays, preparing and draping patients for surgery, and assisting with post-operative dressings.
• Ensure surgical packs are cleaned and packed for sterilization after every procedure, including restocking surgical supplies.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients by actively participating in the cleaning of clinical spaces, operating rooms, and medical equipment, or by guiding other personnel in environmental maintenance.

Additional Qualifications:

• Must meet BLS requirements per section 1.6.12.8.
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience within the preceding 3 years as a Surgical Technologist. Within this timeframe, a minimum of 3 months of experience within the preceding 12 months assisting the surgeon in cutaneous laser procedures and post-operative laser surgery wound care.
