Position Requirements:

  • Degree/Education: Must have Medical Lab Tech training program accredited by the NAACLS or the ABHES
  • Certification: as a Medical Lab tech by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT)or state licensure as a medical lab tech
  • Experience: One year as MLT with Phlebotomy experience
  • BLS through American Heart Association
  • Current immunization record

As a Medical Laboratory Technician working within our unit, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of blood collection efforts, directly impacting the health and readiness of our service members.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Blood Collection and Processing: Conduct blood drives at various locations, adhering to established protocols and safety standards for collecting, labeling, and processing blood donations.

  2. Quality Assurance: Perform quality control procedures on equipment and collected blood products to ensure accuracy, viability, and compliance with regulatory standards.

  3. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain meticulous records of blood donations, accurately entering data into electronic systems, and ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of donor information.

  4. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including phlebotomists, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure smooth and efficient blood drive operations.

  5. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure functionality and accuracy during blood collection activities.
