Medical Coder

 We provide out-patient clinic services for enlisted and retired military personnel. This position provides coding duties in support of patient care and treatment. 

Position Duties Include:

• Interpretation of patient’s medical records and charts and assign appropriate diagnostic as well as procedural codes
• Reflect appropriate codes in electronic health record EMR systems (e.g., MHS GENESIS, 3M Encompass 360, or other electronic reporting system to conduct medical coding services)
• Identify and assign the information with the use of accurate CPT codes and ICD-9-CM codes 
• Ensure codes assigned meet all medical, legal, and federal regulations 
• Review of each encounter to ensure accuracy by verification of data and signatures 
• Assist with other duties as needed and assigned.

Qualifications include:

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year related experience.
• Successful completion of a Medical Coding Course (CIC, CPC, CCS,COC,CEDC)
• Familiar with Microsoft Office applications Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Mail.
• Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
• Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.
