Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential need for a Radiation Therapy Technologist.

 

Job Title: Therapeutic Radiologic Technologist (TRT) / Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) 

Location: Department of Veterans Affairs – VA Long Beach Healthcare System, VA Radiation Oncology Service

Position Type: Full-time, Contract (2080 hours)


About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled Therapeutic Radiologic Technologist (TRT) / Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) to join our Radiation Oncology team. In this role, you will provide critical services, including preparing and positioning patients for radiation therapy, operating imaging and radiation equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Your expertise will help ensure that patients receive precise and safe treatment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Treatment & Safety: Follow prescriptions and instructions from the Radiation Oncologist to carry out complex radiation therapy assignments, ensuring adherence to NRC regulations and ACR guidelines. Maintain patient safety by following ALARA principles.
  • Equipment Preparation & Operation: Prepare and calibrate imaging, simulation, and radiation treatment equipment. Ensure accurate positioning and markings on patients to achieve desired treatment results.
  • Treatment Planning & Imaging: Position patients for CT scans, acquire data sets for treatment planning, and assist with bolus design and multi-leaf collimation (MLC) as needed.
  • Record-Keeping & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of treatments, technical factors, and daily treatment notes in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) within 24 hours.
  • Quality Control: Conduct daily checks of radiation fields and equipment functionality, and support quality improvement initiatives as directed by the Supervisory Radiation Therapist.
  • Support & Coverage: Provide assistance and backup coverage for absent team members as needed, ensuring continuity of care.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an approved program in Therapeutic Radiologic Technology with a certificate or associate degree from an institution accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • Certification: Must hold current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in radiation therapy technology.
  • Skills: Proficiency in operating radiographic equipment, understanding of treatment planning, and strong communication skills to ensure patient cooperation and comfort.
