Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential need for Outpatient Pharmacy Technician for the New Mexico VA Health Care system, Albuquerque, NM.

Job Posting: Outpatient Pharmacy Technician

Location: Albuquerque, NM VA
Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and dispense medications, including sterile compounded products, while maintaining accurate patient records.

• Package, label, and distribute medication doses as prescribed by physicians.

• Maintain drug and supply inventories, ensuring proper stock rotation and checking expiration dates.

• Fill and stock medications in automated dispensing devices while documenting necessary information.

• Operate pharmacy automation systems such as Med Carousel, ScriptPro, Pick Point, and Omnicell.

• Process prescription refill requests and utilize computerized software for labeling.

• Answer phone inquiries from patients, physicians, and healthcare professionals, providing information within the technician’s scope.

• Maintain proper documentation and organization of dispensing records in compliance with federal and state regulations.

• Participate in pharmacy inspections, ensuring medications are stored correctly and expired items are properly handled.

• Support mail-order prescription services by sorting and packaging medications for delivery.

• Communicate effectively with healthcare teams and contribute to efficient prescription processing times.

Qualifications:

• Certified by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

• Minimum one year of experience in a Outpatient pharmacy setting with an emphasis on sterile IV compounding.

• Graduate of an Academic Technician Training Educational Program.

• Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations and computer skills.

• High school diploma or GED.

• Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.

• Ability to stand or sit for long periods, perform repetitive motions, and lift as needed.
