Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Medical Assistant in our Urgent Care unit at the ATAMMC Dumfries Ambulatory Care Clinic in Dumfries, Virginia.

 

Position Highlights: 

As a Medical Assistant in our practice, you will function as a champion of patient care; you can do everything from patient charting to preparing exam/treatment rooms to assisting the physician with procedures.  Responsible for assisting providers in the administration of patient care.  Assists with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes.  Also performs general administrative duties in accordance with TJC, HIPAA, and government standards, as well as company policies and procedures.  All patient care is under the direction of a physician and within the scope of a medical assistant.

  • Urgent Care hours of operation: M-F: 7am -8pm and Sat: 7am-2pm 
  • Closed on all 11  Federal Holidays.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates and maintains organized patient flow.
  • Performs patient intake: vital signs, height and weight, reason for visit, interim history, allergies, medication lists, and other interventions as required.
  • Prepares patient for exam based on reason for visit.
  • Prepares and supports patient and assists provider with procedures.
  • Reviews patient charts and ensures that all ancillary reports and required paperwork are available to the provider at the time of visit.
  • Verify patient information and make corrections if needed with each request for an outpatient visit.
  • Demonstrates appropriate population specific techniques with patients.
  • Cleans, prepares and stocks exam rooms, treatment rooms, and workstations.
  • Calls patients regarding test results and medical instruction under the direction of a provider.
  • Assists in the care, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment and instruments.
  • Maintains the inventory of medical and linen supplies.
  • Provides cross coverage to other clinical areas as assigned.
  • Participates in quality improvement projects.
  • Communicates effectively and courteously (written & verbal English skills) with and demonstrates a caring attitude toward patients and family.

Job Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must hold a certification as a Medical Assistant
    • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Training course or associates in Medical Assisting from an accredited college.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule within 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM weekdays, and 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM Saturdays (every other Sat with 3 day weekend every- other weekend).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • At least one-year experience in an Urgent Care setting
  •  
  • Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
