Qualifications:
π Education & Training:
- Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program approved by:
- The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
- The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
- OR completion of a formal surgical technician training program through the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force)
π Certifications (Must Be Current):
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (Web-based courses are not accepted)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR
- Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) OR
- Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician or operating room technician
π Experience (Within the Last 2 Years):
- Minimum 1 year of full-time scrubbing experience (40 hrs/week for 52 weeks) in one or more of the following:
- General Surgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology, or Genitourinary
- Robotics and large orthopedic cases experience is REQUIRED
- Part-time experience will be considered if it equals one full year of consolidated experience. (Training/school time does not count toward experience.)
