Location: Augusta, Maine at the Togus VA Medical Center
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (No Nights, Weekends, or Holidays)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Histotechnologist to join our laboratory team. The selected candidate will be responsible for processing and preparing tissue specimens for pathological analysis, assisting with surgical and frozen sections, and supporting autopsies when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Gross, accession, embed, cut, stain, and cover-slip tissue specimens for analysis.
• Prepare special stains as requested by pathologists.
• Assist pathologists in surgical, frozen sections, and autopsies when necessary.
• Utilize laboratory equipment and techniques to ensure proper specimen processing and preservation.
• Serve as a backup morgue assistant in the absence of the contract diener, providing assistance with autopsies, body closure, and cleanup.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of recent Histology and Cytology experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
• Excellent organizational and technical skills.
