Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with patient care and eye examinations
- Taking patient histories and explaining the testing processes
- Educating patients on the care and maintenance of lenses
- Fitting patients for glasses or contact lenses
- Preparing exam schedules and handling insurance claims
- Working under the supervision of the optometrist
- Maintaining patients records and equipment
Requirements:
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be a US citizen and authorized to work in the US.
- Certification of completion from a basic optometry course, equivalent para-optometric training, or a para-optometric certification; from the American Optometric Association or AOA.
- Possess a minimum of 6 months within the past 2 years as a practicing Optometry Technician.
- Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
- Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
- Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.
