Position Duties:
Services will include clinic coverage, surgery coverage, remote consultations, on-site consultations, and emergent surgical services in the operating room.
- The Otolaryngology Physician shall perform a full range and spectrum of comprehensive specialty care on site at the MTF. Workload includes the evaluation and treatment of emergent, urgent, and non-emergent patients. The Otolaryngology Physician is responsible for a full range of appropriate examinations, delivery of services within the personnel and equipment capabilities of the MTF, provision of mandated medical surveillance and preventive services and the quality and timeliness of treatment records and reports required to document procedures performed and care provided. The Otolaryngology Physician will practice within the guidelines set by the credentialing office of the 96 MDG and the Medical Director. The Otolaryngology Physician's productivity, in terms of patients seen per clinic day and operative case load, is expected to be at least comparable to that of the other civilian and military Otolaryngology physicians assigned to the same facility and authorized the same scope of practice. Clinical duties may include care of patients at another hospital or clinic facility when authorized.
- The Otolaryngology Physician will see new patient consults and established follow-up clinic visits. The provider is expected to respond to telephone consults as well.
- The Otolaryngology Physician will address patient expectations and requirements, establishes level of need and priority of care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Degree/Education: The Otolaryngology physician must have graduated from an approved medical school and must have successfully completed an internship and residency in an accredited U.S. Training Program, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved residency that is acceptable to the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General.
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Current certification, using American Heart Association or the American Red Cross guidelines, in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) is required.
- Board Certification : Shall be board-certified in Otolaryngology by the American Board of Otolaryngology, or American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AOBOO-HNS).
- Experience: Shall have been actively employed in the practice of Otolaryngology or been in a recognized Otolaryngology (or Otolaryngology sub-specialty) training program for a minimum of 36 months of the last 48 months. Experience shall be in the same clinical specialty. Shall have documented credentials attesting to scope of Otolaryngology practice and any special procedures requested.
- Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine as a Physician - in Florida.
