Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a Excellent opportunity for a civilian Registered Nurse - Gastroenterology at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center,Portsmouth, Virginia. 

 

Position Highlights:

Education and Experience:

The  Registered Nurse will have the following requirements:

 

  • Must be a US citizen, or lawful permanent resident, or alien authorized to work in the US
  • Shall have and maintain a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Shall hold and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS).Certifications must be through American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines.
  • Shall have completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university; National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Possess a minimum experience of one (1) year within the last two (2) years as an RN working in a gastroenterology/endoscopy or medical/surgical practice.

 

General Knowledge:

  • Must have knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, disease process and procedures to perform nursing assignments of moderate difficulty and experience to acutely ill adults and geriatric patients as appropriate.
  • Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensures compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for adult and geriatric patients.
  • Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergency situations.
  • Provide pre-procedural counseling and education for patients planning to undergo GI procedures.
