
Registered Nurse (RN) – Contract | Ellsworth AFB, SD
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 0700–1630 (No nights or weekends) 7AM-4:30PM

About the Role
Join the 28th Medical Group at Ellsworth Air Force Base, working within a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model that delivers coordinated, team-based care to military members and their families.
In this role, you will be part of a dedicated care team—including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical technicians, and behavioral health consultants—focused on whole-person, preventive, and continuous care. The RN plays a key role in delivering direct patient care, coordinating services, and ensuring seamless referrals through the PCMH model while using digital tools to support patient engagement and follow-up.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or higher)
- Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license (South Dakota)
- BLS certification (ACLS may be required depending on assignment)
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
Preferred Experience & Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in outpatient, ambulatory, or primary care settings
- Strong clinical skills with the ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment
- Experience using electronic health records (EHR)
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Military healthcare experience preferred but not required
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care within a team-based primary care model
- Perform assessments, administer medications, and provide treatments
- Educate patients on health, wellness, and care plans
- Coordinate care, referrals, and follow-ups
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards and MTF policies
- Respond to urgent and emergent patient needs
- Supervise and delegate tasks as appropriate
Work Environment
- 28th Medical Group, Building 6000, Ellsworth AFB
- Appointment-based primary care clinic
- Collaborative care teams including behavioral health support
- Use of digital tools for patient communication and care coordination
Additional Requirements
- Must successfully complete a background investigation, fingerprinting, and a rigorous credentialing process to work on a military installation
- Must meet all applicable federal contract and clinical competency requirements
