Position Requirements:
- Current BLS/CPR (with AED) certification

The EMT may also acquire additional skills, such as use of the automatic or manual external defibrillator, and become certified as an EMT-Defibrillator (EMT-D). On average, 18 hours of training are needed to acquire defibrillation skills.
