JOB TITLE: Psychological TechnicianDEPARTMENT: Behavioral Health
Position Overview:
As part of an interdisciplinary team, coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the population served. He/She ensures that compassionate, engaged care meets/exceeds quality standards. Also provides care in an efficient safe manner consistent with Ft. Belvoir Community Hospital standards of care. He/She is responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patients, ensuring safety of the environment, interacting appropriately with patients and families individually and/or in group settings and identifying environmental factors impacting the patient's treatment. Will also identify self-care, cultural, ethnic, spiritual and educational needs of the patient, family and/or significant others. Working with the interdisciplinary team, they will help develop, implement and revise the plan of care. Implements the provider’s treatment plan, the Individual Plan of Care, vitals, observes and reports on patient progress and documents appropriately.
This position administers Psychological testing in support of Behavioral Health care and treatment.
Essential Functions:
- Administers, ensures proper accuracy and completion by the patient, scores, and present results for Psychological tests under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist.
- Assists the physician, RN, Social Worker and other treatment team members in decision-making to ensure complete and appropriate information is shared.
- Identifies and reports any pertinent behavioral, medical, and/or psychosocial data to the physician, RN, and/or Social Worker.
- Serves as positive role model by establishing maintaining positive, therapeutic relationships and appropriate boundaries with patients and their guardians.
- Completes vital sign monitoring per policy.
- Provide patient privacy and comply with HIPAA.
- Practicing OSHA safety standards.
- Perform accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times.
- Assist with other duties as needed and assigned.
Job Qualifications:
The job qualifications for this position are as follows:
- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Health related discipline.
- Must have prior, successful experience administering Psychological testing (examples: IQ tests, personality tests).
- Must have at least one year experience working in a Behavioral Health setting.
- Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
- Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
- Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.
